Standards, Governance, and Integrity Initiatives

What is the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM)?

ICVCM is a governance body that sets global standards for high-quality carbon credits through its Core Carbon Principles (CCPs).

Sentinel Earth aligns with ICVCM guidelines to ensure every credit we develop or trade meets global integrity benchmarks and climate value.

What are the Core Carbon Principles (CCPs)?

The CCPs define the minimum criteria a credit must meet: additionality, permanence, no double counting, transparency, and sustainable development.

Sentinel Earth ensures that all projects it develops or vets for buyers are CCP-aligned and independently validated to stand up to scrutiny.

What is the Voluntary Carbon Market Integrity Initiative (VCMI)?

VCMI provides rules for how companies can credibly use and claim carbon credits. It discourages greenwashing and promotes real climate action.

Sentinel Earth helps companies meet VCMI’s gold-tier credibility thresholds — integrating emissions reductions with high-quality credit use and transparent communication.

Who are Verra and Gold Standard?

They are leading independent carbon crediting programs. Verra runs the VCS; Gold Standard focuses on sustainable development and carbon co-benefits.

Sentinel Earth works closely with both to certify projects and ensure the resulting credits are credible, additional, and aligned with climate science.

What are third-party verifiers in carbon markets?

Third-party verifiers are accredited organizations that audit a project’s performance and confirm its emission reductions before credits are issued.

Sentinel Earth works with top-tier verifiers to ensure our projects and issued credits meet international standards and withstand scrutiny.
